Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner – Part-Time Requirements :
- Conducts thorough reviews of construction plans and specifications for residential, commercial, and industrial projects to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes.
- Coordinates and leads preconstruction meetings with developers, contractors, and relevant staff to clarify project requirements and expectations.
- Offers expert guidance to field inspectors, addressing complex issues and ensuring consistent code interpretation.
- Responds to and resolves inquiries and complaints from property owners, contractors, design professionals, and the public.
- Maintains regular communication with municipal clients and their teams to support project goals and regulatory compliance.
- Performs on-site inspections as needed, providing real-time code clarification and enforcement.
- Participates in industry-related meetings, training sessions, and code seminars to stay current with regulatory changes and best practices.
Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner – Part-Time Skills :
In-depth understanding of current construction methods, technologies, and applicable local and international building codes.Proven ability to interpret and apply evolving editions of the International Building Codes (IBC, IRC, etc.).Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and professionally.Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Demonstrates initiative and sound independent judgment in plan review and field-related decisions.Effective time management, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using specialized software for plan review and documentation.Capable of drafting detailed plan review correspondence and accurately updating internal tracking systems.Collaborative and approachable, with the ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, public agencies, and community members.Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner – Part-Time Certification & Experience :
Valid Florida Inspector License required.Valid Florida Plans Examiner License required.Minimum of 3–5 years of combined experience in building department inspections and plan review responsibilities.High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications a plus.Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner – Part-Time Compensation & Benefits :
