IT Principal Architect (Application / Data / Cloud / CRM)

Location : 170-190K + bonus

Overview

Our client is hiring a Principal Architect to define the target architecture, lead end-to-end solution design, and partner with onshore / offshore teams to turn strategy into shipping software. You'll blend systems thinking with hands-on prototyping across apps, data, integrations, and cloud—owning quality, security, cost, and reliability along the way. (Location : Woodcliff Lake, NJ, Hybrid).

Responsibilities

  • Own the target architecture across applications, data, integrations, and infrastructure; maintain roadmaps and ADRs.
  • Lead solution design from discovery through delivery; uphold fidelity to patterns, performance, and quality.
  • Set front- and back-end standards (design systems, component architecture, APIs, caching, contracts).
  • Establish enterprise integration patterns (API management, eventing, data exchange) across CRM / CMS / analytics / ops.
  • Drive cloud platform engineering (containers / serverless, IaC, CI / CD, SRE practices, observability).
  • Embed security & compliance by design (secure coding, SSO / OAuth / OIDC, privacy controls); support audits.
  • Translate architecture into build tasks for offshore teams; review code / designs and unblock delivery.
  • Champion governance : coding conventions, testing strategy (unit / integration / contract), logging / tracing / metrics.
  • Manage vendors / partners; assess platforms, shape SOWs, ensure scope / timeline / budget integrity.
  • Monitor reliability, latency, and cloud spend; optimize for scale and efficiency.
  • Mentor senior engineers; run design reviews; evolve templates, linters, and reusable frameworks.

Requirements

  • 12+ years progressive engineering; 5+ years architecture / technical leadership delivering multi-system programs.
  • Full-stack architecture : modern front end (e.g., React / Next.js) and services (Node.js / .NET / Java); proven design-system leadership.
  • CRM : enterprise Salesforce or equivalent—data models, APIs, automation, environment strategy.
  • Headless CMS : Contentful / Sanity or similar—content modeling, delivery APIs, publishing pipelines.
  • Cloud & DevOps : AWS / GCP / Azure; containers / Kubernetes; IaC (Terraform / CDK / Bicep); CI / CD; automated testing; artifact / versioning.
  • Integration patterns : REST / GraphQL, webhooks, pub / sub, event-driven design, ETL / ELT, API gateway management.
  • Data fundamentals : domain / data modeling, schema evolution, data quality / lineage, analytics consumption.
  • Distributed delivery : success guiding offshore teams via hands-on reviews, technical planning, and quality gates.
  • Execution-focused : enjoys prototyping, solving problems hands-on, and staying close to code and teams.
