The Director of IT Operations & Technology Strategy drives the organization’s technology vision, aligns IT with the Strategic Plan, and manages both strategic initiatives and IT operations. This is an individual contributor role focused on implementing and administering systems; no direct reports at this time.
Opportunity
The Director of Technology Strategy leads the organization’s technology vision, aligning IT with the Strategic Plan goals. The role manages day-to-day IT needs while directing the long-term technology roadmap and implementing enterprise-wide technology initiatives. This position requires proactive, strategic problem-solving and effective collaboration with leadership; responsibilities include both operations and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
Strategic Thinking & Planning : Develop, maintain, and execute a technology roadmap aligned with the organizational Strategic Plan, including identifying needed technologies or upgrades, budget, development, cost-benefit analysis, and implementation timelines for the current 5-year outlook.
Catalog and manage technology assets : Create a detailed inventory of all current technology and propose management strategies for each.
Training & adoption : Develop and implement a comprehensive training plan for existing and new technology, ensuring execution across the organization.
AI initiatives : Oversee AI initiatives across the organization; identify, construct, implement, and manage tools and ensure staff training.
Cyber security : Lead development of the organization’s cyber security policy and systems; monitor vendor security policies.
Risk management & continuity : Conduct regular risk assessments of internal and external threats; create a monitoring plan with KPIs; develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
IT Operations & Accountability : Oversee daily IT operations and policies, including day-to-day helpdesk services; monitor networks, security systems, backups, servers, and workstation OS; manage IT lifecycle for employees.
Budget & procurement : Assist in developing the annual IT budget, including equipment replacement schedules.
Vendor & stakeholder communication : Manage communications with vendors and third parties with Executive oversight on key communications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience / certifications
At least 5 years of IT experience with progressively higher responsibilities
Advanced knowledge of network architecture, configuration, virtualization, and server management
Experience with key systems : Microsoft and Google Suite, Salesforce, Zoom, JumpCloud (or similar); familiarity with AI-based customer service systems and Microsoft ERP is a plus
Proven history of vetting, negotiating, and monitoring external vendors and third parties, especially regarding security policies and implementation
Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain cyber security policies and conduct risk assessments
Strong alignment of technology with strategic plans; solid analytical and project management skills
Excellent time management, prioritization, and follow-through to deliver high-quality results on time
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
Professional communication for technical and non-technical audiences; ability to translate complex issues clearly
Experience leading organizational change related to technology adoption and training
Innovative, resilient, and proactive with problem-solving focus for long-term objectives
