Veterinary Assistant Positions at VCA Big Lake Animal Hospital

VCA Big Lake Animal Hospital, located on the outskirts of Wasilla, AK, is looking for Veterinary Assistants to join our 3-doctor General Practice. We need experienced Veterinary Assistants who would like to provide excellent patient care with a focus on wellness and client education. This Veterinary Assistant would have 2+ years of experience in the field. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for preparing exam rooms for the doctors and assist in providing care for the patients hospitalized in the treatment area.

Schedule : Part time opportunity. Flexible schedule. We are open Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm, some Saturdays required. Ability to work into a full time position.

Compensation : The pay range for this position is $21.00-25.00 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

The skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to :

• Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
• Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
• Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law).
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Providing compassionate care for our hospitalized animals.
• Maintaining medical records.
• Assisting our wonderful Doctor and Technician staff as needed.
• Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
