This 172-bed teaching hospital serves as the only Level II Trauma Center in Monterey County and many surrounding communities. The facility was voted "Best Hospital in Salinas Valley" by Salinas Valley Reader's Choice in 2022. The emergency department features 24 / 7 triage services and treats a diverse patient population from pediatric to elderly patients, including high-acuity trauma cases such as motor vehicle accidents, penetrating wounds, and falls. The department maintains dedicated charge nurses who do not carry patient assignments and provides break nurses for coverage.
