Combo Welder (FCAW + GTAW / TIG) – 2" Monster Coupon

Location : Ingleside, TX

Schedule : Full-time | Industrial Construction / Turnaround Environment

Tarpon Specialty Services is hiring experienced Combo Welders for industrial work in the Ingleside near Corpus Christi, TX. This role is for welders who are solid on FCAW and GTAW / TIG on pipe and can pass a 2" monster coupon test to strict code standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW welding in accordance with WPS 30 and WPS 60.
• Perform GTAW / TIG welding on pipe in accordance with WPS 62.
• Produce welds that meet RT (X-ray) or visual inspection standards.
• Read and follow WPS, isometrics, and drawings in an industrial environment.
• Work safely around other crafts and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Communicate effectively with foremen, QC, and client representatives.

Weld Testing Requirements

You must be able to pass the following weld tests :

6GR Dual Certification – FCAW

6GR test with flux-core using 1 / 16" wire and a downhill cap. Must meet visual and client acceptance criteria, including RT / UT if required.

2" Monster Coupon – TIG (GTAW) on Carbon

2" pipe “monster coupon” TIG test per WPS requirements. Must pass bend, X-ray, or other client-required QC checks.

Additional TIG Test (If Required by Client)

Possible 2" x 0.125" wall TIG test with welds subject to X-ray inspection.
