Job Description and Duties
The Safety Psychiatric Technician will operate under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, RN Shift Lead, Senior Psychiatric Technician, or Health Services Specialist based on the assigned shift or program. Key responsibilities include :
- Creating a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients or inmates.
- Applying mental health principles and fostering secure relationships with patients or inmates.
- Supervising patient activities and ensuring safety.
- Conducting searches for contraband, weapons, and inspecting facilities for security breaches.
- Observing and intervening in patient behaviors that pose threats to safety or signal escape attempts.
- Utilizing Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI) effectively for patient containment and emergency response.
- Performing nursing procedures including administering oral medications and injections, monitoring physical conditions, and reporting changes to supervisors or physicians.
- Maintaining records of patient observations and adhering to infection control procedures.
Qualifications

This position involves working in the Secured Treatment Area (STA) with a standard schedule of 12-hour shifts. Alternate shifts may be necessary based on staffing requirements. There are multiple vacancies, and positions will be assigned according to hospital needs.
