Job description

LHH is assisting our senior living / property management client in their search for a results-driven and confident Director of Accounting to manage and improve their organization’s financial performance and direct accounting operations. The Director of Accounting oversees the accounting department to ensure the department is operating in an efficient manner. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, this position implements policies, practices and procedures that allows the accounting department to function in a manner that produces a quality work output and complies with all applicable legal requirements. Job Responsibilities :

  • Oversees accounting functions for property accountants who manage senior living communities and corporate operations to ensure financial information is reported accurately and in a timely manner
  • Leads, guides, directs, and evaluates accounting staff; provide feedback on individual and team performance, creates an open-door environment, and builds credibility with team
  • Responsible for month end close process including journal entries, allocations, expenses, and financial statement preparation
  • Works with auditors at year end to ensure completion of all required entity audits
  • Ensures accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP for all operating and in progress communities for key stakeholders
  • Leverages technology to allow the accounting department to be scalable, flexible, and efficient
  • Oversees and records construction accounting activities for communities in process
  • Corresponds with HUD mortgage lenders regarding loans

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Business-related Master’s degree and / or CPA a plus
  • Senior Living and / or Property Management experience required
  • 8+ years of progressive experience with public accounting and industry
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, highly organized, and excellent leadership skills
