About This Job

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is seeking to fill the position of Guard. The Guard is in the Public Safety department. This is a full-time position.

Reports To : Chief of Police

Minimum Qualifications

No experience or training is required. Necessary special requirements include : An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties :

Security Guards at Baton Rouge Community College help ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for patrolling campus facilities, enforcing security regulations, monitoring access points, and responding to security-related incidents to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.

Duties :

30% Campus Security & Safety :

  • Patrol campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to prevent unauthorized access, vandalism, and theft.
  • Monitor and authorize entry of employees, students, visitors, and contractors to maintain campus security.
  • Provide escort services as needed for students and employees in potentially unsafe situations.
  • Respond to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, ensuring proper protocols are followed.

25% Incident Response & Reporting :

  • Investigate security-related incidents, document findings, and report violations or suspicious activities.
  • Assist in emergency situations, providing support to campus police and first responders when necessary.
  • Complete and submit daily activity logs and incident reports.
  • 20% Traffic & Parking Enforcement :

  • Monitor campus parking lots, issue citations for parking violations, and assist with traffic control during events.
  • Provide directions and assistance to students, employees, and visitors regarding campus safety procedures.
  • 20% Customer Service & Campus Assistance :

  • Act as a point of contact for students and staff needing security-related assistance.
  • Support the BRCC Police Department in implementing safety initiatives and awareness programs.
  • Assist in enforcing campus policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
  • 5% Perform other duties as assigned

    Position-Specific Details : Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status. Compensation : Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with education and work experience.
