Development Engineer

DESCRIPTION :

The Village of Glen Ellyn is seeking a meticulous full-time Development Engineer with strong communication, technical, and organizational skills. The Development Engineer is responsible for reviewing residential and commercial plans, blueprints, and specifications for new construction projects and renovations to ensure compliance with all applicable codes.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, residents, consultants, and members of the development community. Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritize requests and responsibilities with accuracy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Private Development & Engineering Review

• Review civil site plans (grading, stormwater, erosion control, geometrics, utilities) and supporting reports and documents for private development projects
• Review plans and reports for Village capital improvement projects for compliance with stormwater regulations
• Coordinate internal and consultant reviews; ensure compliance with Village, County, State, and Federal regulations
• Attend development review meetings and assist with pre-application consultations

Project Oversight & Inspections

Policy & Code Support

Consultant & Project Management

Resident & Interdepartmental Support

SALARY / BENEFITS :

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with full benefits and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), a defined benefit retirement plan. Our comprehensive benefits package also includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life / AD&D coverage, flexible spending, transit, a 457 deferred compensation plan, paid time off, a wellness incentive program, and tuition reimbursement. The current salary range for this position is $99,808 to $139,732 (Grade Q). Anticipated starting salary is + / - $120,000. Actual starting salary is negotiable and will be dependent upon qualifications, experience, and professional achievement.
