Responsibilities Position is based in a hospital medical acute care unit General medical patient population is served The unit has 20 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5 on day shift and 1 : 5-6 on night shift Telemetry monitoring is used for some patients with Phillips monitors; monitor techs read strips at a central station Patient care technicians are available 24 / 7 with ratios of 1 : 6-7 on days and 1 : 10 at night Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM Every other weekend is required, with coverage for 3 out of 6 major holidays annually Travel RNs are first to float when needed EPIC EMR is used, and prior experience is preferred Charge nurse and house supervisor present 24 / 7, with the charge nurse typically not carrying a patient assignment unless short-staffed No specific scrub color is required for this unit Unit-specific orientation is provided There are no ventilators on this unit Local candidates are accepted with a different pay rate if residing within 50 miles COVID vaccination is not required Position is located in a drug-free work environment Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS certification (AHA) required Minimum of 1 year of general medical / surgical nursing experience General med / surg experience, strong teamwork, and effective communication skills necessary Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-633842.
