Location : Springfield, Ohio (zip 45504) – Ohio nursing jobs

Healthcare Setting : 10-bed Observation Unit (PCU / Stepdown)

Assignment Type : Travel Nursing – Registered Nurse contract

Shift : 12 Hour Nights

Hours per Week : 36

Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 16 / 2026)

Patient Ratio : Typically 1 : 5

Weekend / Holiday : Every 3rd weekend, every other holiday

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1680-$1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required)

Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience (required)

6 months of acute care hospital experience (preferred)

BLS certification (required)

ACLS and NIHSS certifications (required)

Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)

Neuro nursing experience preferred

Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Monitor and assess patients with neuro and cardiac conditions in the PCU observation unit

Conduct neurological assessments, including NIHSS, for patients with stroke or neurological concerns

Administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions

Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team for patient care planning and discharge

Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery steps

Document patient progress and nursing interventions accurately

Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure, trauma, or complex medical needs

Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives
