NOW HIRING!! A-Line is seeking Care Managers – Behavioral Health to join our growing California team. In this role, you will monitor inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse services, ensuring treatment is medically necessary, effective, and aligned with best practices. You will play a key role in crisis intervention, utilization review, discharge planning, and advocating for members’ care needs.
Care Manager – Behavioral Health (Remote, California)
Location : Remote (Must reside and be licensed in California)
Schedule : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 / 8 : 30 AM – 4 : 40 / 5 : 00 PM
Pay Rate : Up to $40 / hour
Number of Openings : 14–20
Key Responsibilities
Conduct utilization reviews for inpatient, outpatient, and other levels of behavioral health care.
Provide telephone triage, crisis intervention, and emergency authorizations as needed.
Develop and oversee discharge plans in collaboration with providers and facilities.
Educate members and providers on benefits, community resources, and care programs.
Engage Physician Advisors on clinical and authorization matters.
Support quality improvement activities including data collection, tracking, and analysis.
Propose alternative treatment plans when services do not meet medical necessity criteria.
Partner with community agencies and assist in provider network development.
Advocate for members, ensuring treatment needs are met with professionalism and respect.
Qualifications
Licensure (required) : Active California license in one of the following :
CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional)
LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
RN (Registered Nurse)
Education (dependent on license) :
Associate’s in Nursing, Bachelor’s in Social Work, or Master’s in Social Work.
Experience : Minimum 2 years post-degree in healthcare, behavioral health, psychiatric, and / or substance abuse settings.
Skills : Strong organization, communication, and time management. Proficiency in computer systems; knowledge of DSM-V and utilization management procedures.
