The Quality Control Representative serves as the Contractor’s onsite representation for all quality related matters. This position works closely with the Quality Control Manager to help develop, coordinate, and execute project-specific Quality Control Plans; monitor quality-related activities; assist with testing and inspection processes; and help verify that materials, workmanship, and subcontractor performance meet project specifications and industry standards. The Representative contributes to technical reviews, documentation, deficiency tracking, and communication with project teams, subcontractors, and third-party testing agencies. This position requires practical construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established quality procedures. The Quality Control Representative plays a key role in supporting day-to-day quality operations on the jobsite and helps maintain a consistent, proactive, and compliant Quality Control Program across the project.
Essential Job Function
- Implement project Quality Control Plans and company policies to ensure materials and work meet quality standards through analysis and interpretation of testing results.
- Coordinate and perform field inspections of work activities; verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Communicate discrepancies to project teams and management.
- Supervise and mentor field technicians to ensure adherence to quality procedures; assist management in evaluating performance and coaching staff.
- Evaluate vendor and third-party firm performance to ensure compliance with quality expectations.
- Prepare accurate and detailed daily reports documenting work activities, inspections, and tests performed.
- Maintain thorough, organized records of all inspection and testing data and provide timely reports to leadership and project owners.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies and corrective actions; work proactively to prevent reoccurring issues and reduce rework.
- Promote and enforce company quality and safety policies, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Additional Responsibilities
Train employees on quality expectations and standards derived from project specifications and industry guidelines.Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and testing documentation.Perform duties safely and in compliance with OSHA, EM 385, company policies, and industry standards.Collect and document material samples and inspection data with accuracy.Interact professionally with owners, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.Obtain and maintain required certifications for the position.Attend meetings with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.Prepare and conduct weekly QC meetings with owner or contribute QC findings / topics to weekly meetings.Reviews and help prepare submittals as needed.Help prepare and / or review RFI’s when changes or questions on the job occur.Update Redlines and review As-Built Drawings as needed.Work collaboratively as part of the project team, offering constructive solutions while upholding the contract requirements.Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field; or High school diploma / GED with 3-6 years of construction industry experience.Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Experience in construction, field engineering, project coordination, or a related role with exposure to quality control processes.Prior experience assisting with or performing quality inspections, testing coordination, or documentation activities on construction projects.Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, with the ability to interpret basic plans, specifications, and submittals.Familiarity with common QC processes such as daily reporting, deficiency tracking, submittal reviews, and material verification.Experience creating, organizing, or maintaining construction documentation, logs, reports, or work packages.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with field staff, subcontractors, and testing agencies regarding technical requirements or quality concerns.Practical experience identifying issues in the field and supporting their resolution under the guidance of a supervisor or senior QC personnel.Experience working on government, DOT, or large commercial / industrial projects; exposure to standardized QC programs; or completion of relevant training or certifications (e.g., ACI, ICC, OSHA 30, USACE or NAVFAC QC training).Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.Ability to travel or relocate to project sites.Physical Demands
