Payments Counsel

A company is looking for a Payments Product Counsel to join their team on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Payments Subject Matter Expert for product launches involving digital currencies and related financial features

Advise product, engineering, and business teams on regulatory and compliance considerations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess risks and ensure compliant product design

Required Qualifications

J.D. (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar

5+ years of legal experience with a focus on payments, fintech, or financial services

Strong understanding of payments regulations, including money transmission and virtual currency frameworks

Ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business guidance
