Overview
Lead Large-Scale Civil Construction Projects Across the Midwest – SM Hentges & Sons Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver high-value civil construction projects across the Midwest, including highways, bridges, and major utility installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Strategy & Planning : Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines aligned with strategic objectives; assess project risks and define mitigation plans.
- Leadership & Team Management : Direct project managers, superintendents, and support teams; promote a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Stakeholder Management : Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors; serve as primary point of contact for project communications.
- Financial Oversight : Manage project budgets, cash flow, and cost controls; analyze financial performance and implement cost-effective strategies.
- Quality & Safety : Oversee compliance with quality standards and safety regulations; foster proactive safety culture and accountability.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain project records, permits, and change orders; provide executive-level reporting on status, risks, and financials.
Qualifications
7-10+ years of progressive experience managing heavy civil construction projectsProven track record with large-scale DOT, municipal, and public works projectsStrong command of compliance, permitting, and construction specificationsExpertise in project scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project)Proficient with construction management software (Vista, B2W, HCSS, Procore, or similar)Knowledgeable in concrete / asphalt paving, structures, utilities, and earthworkBachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferredBenefits
