Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is seeking candidates to receive, process, payout, destroy, and validate currency in a highly controlled, monitored, regulated, and secure environment. This role requires strict adherence to a set of defined rules and regulations, including those outlined in the Treasury Currency Operations Manual, Custody Control Principles and Standards, and internal District Cash Procedures. The work is considered entry-level and requires the ability to work as part of a custody team under general supervision.
Responsibilities include :
- Receive, process, pay out, destroy, and validate currency in a highly controlled, monitored, regulated, and secure environment.
- Strict adherence to a set of defined rules and regulations.
- Read, understand, and consistently apply educational materials and manuals to perform operational roles in Cash Services.
- Operate high-speed currency equipment and / or pay and receive currency / coin to depository institutions, achieving challenging production standards and complying with all applicable procedures and controls.
- Balance deposits and process entries to depository institutions using accounting operating systems and Cash Services unique inventory and processing applications.
- Navigate complex inventory tracking within relevant accounting systems to record batch statistics / inventory, transfers among internal valuables handling teams and external customers, and other pertinent data elements.
- Ensure the accuracy of automated accounting and transfer records.
- Transfer and store significant values and quantities of currency and coin manually or using material handling equipment and maintain custody and accountability throughout completion of these processes.
- Identify and alert management / team to control and procedural exceptions.
- Demonstrate ability to operate in a team environment with high results orientation; display effective interpersonal skills.
Qualifications include :
High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to use MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and automated information technology systems.Will be required to obtain counterfeit certification and be able to physically detect counterfeits and altered notes through manual inspection.Will be required to maintain certification through semi-annual testing.May be required to receive training and certification to operate material handling equipment as required by OSHA.Ability to work as a team member in a highly sensitive and rigorously controlled and monitored environment.Ability to work 5 days x 8 hours.Ability to stand for 80% (or up to 100%) of the workday.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to push and transport currency containers weighing up to 1500 lbs.Additional requirements include :

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $51,600 and $61,100 annually. Final salary and offer will be determined based on the applicant's relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
