Job Description
We are currently seeking experienced Ductwork Installers for a commercial HVAC project in Tallahassee, Florida. Candidates must have strong knowledge of commercial HVAC sheet metal systems, the ability to read blueprints, and experience installing ductwork efficiently while complying with Florida Building Codes and jobsite safety standards.
This is a long-term opportunity for qualified sheet metal professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for commercial HVAC sheet metal systems
- Perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork and related components
- Install and hang ductwork from layout to completion at an average production rate of approximately 5 feet per hour, depending on job conditions
- Ensure all installations meet Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements and project specifications
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other jobsite equipment
- Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and other trades on site
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Troubleshoot installation issues and make field adjustments as needed
Required Hand Tools & Equipment
Candidates must supply and be proficient with standard commercial sheet metal tools, including but not limited to:
- Tape measure (25’ minimum)
- Aviation snips (left, right, and straight cut)
- Sheet metal hammer and mallet
- Hand seamers (straight and offset)
- Folding bar/handa brake (as applicable)
- Cordless drill and impact driver
- Nut drivers and drill bits
- Screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips)
- Wrenches (adjustable and standard)
- Level and square
- Chalk line and layout tools
- Crimpers and duct stretchers
- Rivet gun
- Tin benders and notching tools
- PPE including a the hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a commercial sheet metal mechanic in construction
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of Florida Building Codes related to HVAC and sheet metal installation
- Strong understanding of duct layout, hanging methods, and sealing standards
- Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
- OSHA knowledge or certification preferred
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work on active construction sites
