Description
I. Purpose of Job
Under general supervision provide engineering support to the Building & Zoning Department. Responsibilities may include reviewing development plans submitted for consideration by the Maury County Regional Planning Commission (MCRPC), review plat submittals, establish surety amounts for road development, inspect subdivision road construction, provide assistance in setting MCRPC agenda and staff comments on submittals, and providing
technical knowledge to County staff.

VI. Key Competencies Required
Basic knowledge of engineering terminology, principles, and theories. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Knowledge of project management and administrative principles and practices. Knowledge of civil engineering practices and procedures.
Level 3 : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
Level 4 : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Level 4 : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. In decision making, some choices are known while others may need to be identified. Some reliance on precedent. Ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education and Experience : The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through attainment of Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in civil engineering or related discipline plus 2 years of related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
