Responsibilities Northwest Specialty Hospital , an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, brings expanded services to a new building located at 5 Sharlands Ave. in Northwest Reno. The facility will offer acute rehabilitation and adult behavioral health services.
Our acute rehabilitation services include occupational, speech, and physical therapy for adults recovering from stroke, injury, or another disabling condition. We offer advanced treatment for a wide range of conditions including stroke, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders, major multiple traumas and spinal cord and back injuries. All patients will experience private rooms, have access to a newly renovated therapy gym, and personalized care from our qualified staff.
The adult behavioral health services offered is an expansion to our current and older program at NNMC. The new program will offer behavioral health services to all adults years and older. The department is managed through a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, and therapists. Patients will experience an individualized care plan, inclusive of individual and family therapy, activities, medication management, and a -hour secure, compassionate environment.
We are looking for a dynamic Nurse Apprentice to help provide amazing direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. You will communicate with RN preceptor, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room)
- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
- In coordination with RN preceptor, is able to formulate a patient care plan.
- Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness under the supervision of the RN preceptor.

Qualifications Requirments:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing.
- Has completed the fundamentals course in nursing school.
- Current BLS certification.
