PICU RN Travel Job Details Location : Albuquerque, New Mexico (87106) Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract Start Date : January 12, 2026 End Date : April 13, 2026 Hours per Week : 36 (guaranteed); 3x12 or 4x12 shifts available. 48-hour contract (4x12) is possible if preferred. Shift : 12-hour nights (rotating shifts possible; 19 : 00 – 07 : 30) Weekend Requirement : 4–5 weekend shifts per schedule Facility Type : Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital Unit : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) – 20 beds, average daily census ~15 Patient Ratio : 1 : 2 Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week (facility may call off up to 3 times during assignment) Charting System : Cerner Scrub Color : Black Parking : Free onsite Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1800-$1930 PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico (pending accepted) Minimum 1.5 years of recent PICU RN experience (within the last 2 years) Experience in a Level I Trauma facility strongly preferred BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required (no RQI certs accepted) COVID-19 and flu vaccinations required (medical / religious exemptions accepted with documentation) CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) experience preferred Willingness to float to NICU and assist in Pediatric Emergency Department as a resource Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility (no local candidates) Personal transportation required PICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU Manage patients with complex diagnoses : respiratory distress / failure, renal failure, trauma, CRRT, ECMO, hematology / oncology, multi-system organ failure, and suicide attempts Utilize advanced clinical skills : EVD (external ventricular drain) management, HFNC (high flow nasal cannula), ICP monitoring, IV vasopressors, and post-neurosurgery care Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, rapid response) Float to NICU as needed and provide resource support in the Pediatric Emergency Department (IVs, medications, etc.) Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety standards Apply now to join our dedicated healthcare team and make a difference as a travel PICU Registered Nurse in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
