Job Summary
Join our dynamic team of dedicated healthcare professionals! The Licensed Practical Nurse in Operating Room Services will provide both direct and indirect nursing care to patients undergoing various advanced surgical procedures. Your role is pivotal in the surgical team, where you will support the preparation and care of patients, working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designated supervisor while applying your advanced nursing skills independently.

Essential Functions

- Deliver direct nursing care following established protocols and in accordance with state regulations.
- Accurately document surgical procedures and engage with team members, including surgeons, to prepare for complex cases.
- Skillfully operate complex surgical equipment and oversee its readiness.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments following nursing protocols.
- Conduct assessments and develop tailored care plans based on patients' unique needs.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress toward clinical outcomes.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with medical staff and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Ensure thorough documentation of patient care that meets all standards.
- Prioritize patient care continuously in alignment with evidence-based practices.
- Adhere to strict infection prevention protocols.
- Initiate or assist with emergency response measures as necessary.
- Manage patient pain through appropriate techniques and interventions.
- Build relationships with patients and families, keeping them informed and advocating for their needs.
- Participate in educating patients and families about their conditions and care plans.
- Assist in coordinating discharge planning needs in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare team members while considering their qualifications and capabilities.
- Demonstrate compassionate care, fostering a therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
- Assist Surgical Technologists in scrub duties when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
Minimum Requirements
Education : Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience : One year of experience as a registered nurse is required.In Lieu Of
Completion of the Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or a comparable program will be accepted in place of one year of registered nurse experience.One year of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience is also acceptable in lieu of registered nurse experience.Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Must hold a current RN compact / multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient in maintaining surgical inventory and understanding surgeons’ preferences.Able to mentor new staff and pursue ongoing education opportunities.Work Shift
