Arkansas State University Mid-South seeks a qualified individual to lead the development of a licensed practical nursing program and to provide training to practical nursing students at a progressive, student-centered community college close to the metropolitan Memphis, TN, area. This is a provisional full-time, 12-month position with full college benefits. The position is supported with grant funding provided by the Department of Labor and the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V). A successfully developed practical nursing program will continue to be supported by the College following the termination of grant funding.
Qualifications : Candidate must possess a current unencumbered Registered Nurse license to practice in Arkansas, a Baccalaureate Degree or higher in Nursing, and previous experience in clinical nursing practice and / or education, preferably at a community college. The successful candidate should also demonstrate knowledge of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) Rules and Standards for Nursing Education Programs, as well as other relevant state and federal regulatory requirements. Other qualifications include evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development and to student learning and goal achievement. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications is required, and previous use of Canvas or another LMS is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates who understand active learning and divergent learning styles, and who can develop computer-based and simulation learning modules to support classroom instruction.
Responsibilities : Reports to the Dean of Allied Health and Sciences with responsibility for planning, administration, implementation, and evaluation of the Practical Nursing (PN) program and advising and instruction of PN program students, as well as ensuring and maintaining program compliance with the ASBN Rules and Standards for Nursing Education Programs. In the first year, the Practical Nursing Program Director will lead the development of the program, seeking the necessary approvals from the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE)and the ASBN to offer instruction, with the goal of enrolling the first cohort of students beginning in Fall 2025. Some teaching is required, and teaching schedule may include evening or weekend hours. Other responsibilities include :
