Medical Assistant Position
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide patient care and support within the ambulatory setting. The Medical Assistant will accurately complete patient interviews, collect appropriate specimens, assist the physician with patient exams, maintain departmental inventory, provide patient education, and ensure quality direct patient care and non-professional services as directed by the Physician. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing the following as required by position : phlebotomy for diagnostic studies, CLIA waived testing. This position may also complete EKGs and drug and alcohol testing.
Qualifications
Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required; Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required.
License / Certification : Certification in Phlebotomy ASCP preferred; BLSHCP certified within six months of hire or transfer. Must be a graduate of a post-secondary Medical Assistant program accredited by a national accrediting agency, with a minimum of 330 hours of instruction, with special training around medication administration as per the NJ Board of Medical Examiners required.
Experience : 1-3 years of prior experience in Ambulatory care preferred. Able to handle high volume of interactions with frequent interruptions required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Work Environment
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the medical office environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, and walking. This position also requires long periods of telephone work. This position frequently lifts 25-50 lbs and occasionally lifts 50-100 lbs. Periodic traveling to other department locations is expected. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

This position reports to department leadership as assigned.
