Description : Candidates must adhere to a fingernail policy where artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to contract termination. A driver’s license is required and will be used for verification. Orientation includes a pass / fail exam on skills learned, requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass. RNs are expected to manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2, and in specific situations, this may change to 1 : 5 or 1 : 4. Common patient diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and various neuro cases. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and insulin. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who does not take an assignment. Patient care techs are present, with a ratio depending on the number of patients. Critical care coverage is available 24 / 7, including remote support. RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts operate from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. Scheduling is managed by a unit scheduler. Weekend shifts are required every other week, and holiday availability will vary based on unit needs. Floating to different units may be required. Scrub color is navy blue. RTO should be provided upfront, not exceeding seven days for the contract duration. Additional time off will not be approved after submission. The facility can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done through an electronic system. A BSN is preferred but not required. This position requires a focus on acute care settings.
