MaineHealth is seeking a collaborative and dynamic leader to assume the position of Director - Emergency Services for Stephens Hospital a nationally acclaimed, highly reputable, non-profit, 25-bed critical access hospital located in Norway, Maine.

  • Position Summary

The Director - Emergency Services provides daily operations, support and resource management. This is an essential role and part of the nursing leadership team at Stephens Hospital. The director is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the department while promoting patient and employee satisfaction. The environment is fast-paced, with varied age groups and illnesses. We have an open nurse station, promoting teamwork with physicians and colleagues. Emergency room leadership experience is highly desired. Acute care experience and certifications such as PALS, ACLS, CEN preferred. The director will be a great communicator, cool under pressure, team oriented, professional, and focused on patient safety and staff development.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education : Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in an accredited nursing program desirable. Master's degree preferred or currently matriculated in MSN program

  • License / Certifications : Active RN License. RQI BLS & ACLS Certification within first 30 days of employment
  • Experience : One to two years demonstrated clinical competence and leadership competence or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to mentor and empower staff; to set the climate of cooperation and teamwork
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with a firm understanding of nursing and leadership roles; skilled change agent
  • Effective communicator with the ability to create strong nurse / physician partnerships; serves as a role model through professional behavior and open, direct communication
