The Medical Director at Lufkin State Supported Living Center (SSLC) plays a pivotal role in managing, coordinating, and directing all medical services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This position oversees a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality medical care to residents with complex medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health needs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Directs and supervises medical staff including Physicians, APRNs, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Dentists, and Psychiatrists
- Participates in treatment team processes and provides primary care for a smaller caseload
- Coordinates treatment for employees injured on the job and ensures compliance with regulatory standards
- Leads the medical department, including hiring, training, and promoting staff development
- Participates in survey and audit processes, identifies areas for improvement, and implements solutions
- Serves on various committees and interfaces with state office leadership
- Provides medical information to families and oversees staff participation in interdisciplinary planning conferences
- Promotes safety and wellbeing of staff and coordinates treatment for injured employees
Qualifications :
