Tax & Consulting Manager – Lewes, DE
Drive tax excellence—mentor accountants, manage tax preparation, and help clients achieve their financial goals as the Tax & Consulting Manager in Lewes, Delaware.
The Tax & Consulting team serves as a trusted partner, helping clients achieve long-term success through proactive tax strategy and financial planning. The Manager supports wealth strategy specialists and advisors in delivering comprehensive tax and planning solutions that align with each client’s unique goals.
This role oversees tax preparation services and leads the training, development, and supervision of Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Supervisors. The Manager provides technical guidance, ensures compliance, and upholds a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Tax
- Lead the tax department, providing guidance, review, and oversight of all team members.
- Manage training, development, and performance for staff and senior accountants, supervisors, and associates.
- Stay current on tax law changes, ensuring consistent and compliant implementation.
- Review moderate to complex tax returns (individual, fiduciary, partnership, and corporate).
- Oversee and review client analyses including social security, stock options, Roth conversions, and other tax-related projections.
- Conduct research on complex transactions and communicate findings.
- Assist in implementing tax planning and consulting strategies.
- Support senior leadership in business development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Business Services (Consulting)
Review and analyze business financial statements for client planning and strategy.Support senior managers in client meetings and consultations.Financial Planning
Review client tax and financial documents, including returns, statements, and estate planning materials.Oversee tax and financial analyses to support comprehensive planning recommendations.Supervisory Responsibilities
Hire, coach, and retain high-performing team members.Align team and individual performance goals with organizational objectives.Provide regular coaching, feedback, and professional development.Maintain open communication and accountability within the department.Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.CPA or EA license required.Master’s in Taxation or advanced degree preferred.Experience
5–10 years in a public accounting or tax-focused environment.Proven leadership and mentorship experience.Preferred Qualifications
CFP or Series 65 certification.Financial planning or wealth management experience.Advanced proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and tax preparation / research software.Excellent communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.Client-first mindset with attention to detail and teamwork orientation.Additional Details
Full-time position based in Lewes, DE.Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule.Additional paid time off following tax season.Compensation & Benefits
