Join our Y team – Grant Writer needed!

Are you a skilled grant writer passionate about creating lasting change? The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are looking for a dedicated Grant Writer to join our Philanthropy team, securing funding that expands and enhances our mission-driven programs and services.

Interested candidates should submit the following :

A cover letter outlining your qualifications, experience, and salary requirement.

A detailed resume.

Two writing samples of successful grant proposals you have authored.

Schedule : The Grant Writer is a hybrid position. The staff is expected to make in-person visits to the various YMCA branches in the DMV area and work onsite as needed.

What You’ll Do as a Grant Writer at the Y :

Grant Research : Identify and research potential funding opportunities that align with the Y’s mission and community impact goals.

Proposal Writing : Develop compelling grant proposals, including narratives, and required documents tailored to each funder’s priorities.

Submission Management : Ensure timely and complete submission of grant applications.

Reporting and Stewardship : Prepare and submit grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and fostering strong relationships with funders.

Collaboration : Work closely with program staff to gather essential data and program details for proposals and reports.

Funding Strategy : Contribute to developing and implementing a comprehensive grant strategy to increase financial support for the Y’s initiatives.

Tracking and Documentation : Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, funding received, and reporting deadlines.

What You Bring :

We seek a mission-driven professional whose values align with the Y’s commitment to community impact.

Experienced Grant Writer : Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred, with at least 3 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising and securing at least 7-figure grants.

Proven Track Record : Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

Exceptional Writing Skills : Ability to craft compelling narratives that inspire funding partners.

Detail-Oriented : Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high-quality work under deadlines.

Research Savvy : Proficiency in identifying potential funding sources and understanding their requirements.

Collaborative Mindset : Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues across the association.
