Summary / Objective :
The Public Affairs and Marketing Generalist is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and overseeing the execution of a variety of marketing and communications projects and programs to enhance the Agency's reputation, increase the use of its services, and deliver an important level of customer satisfaction. This position assists in the development of communications and related strategies and plans, researches, and recommends copy and brand standards for media relations and agency messaging, social media engagement, and other print and digital media assets. This position also assists with project management and provides other input relating to the development and publication / distribution of informational materials, promotional items, marketing, and outreach campaigns and e-news, and acts as a liaison and facilitator between customers and internal stakeholders. The Generalist represents the Agency in various communications with the community and coordinates and attends events on behalf of the agency. The Generalist also assists with general department operations including purchasing, budgeting, and other administrative tasks. Because this position carries significant discretion and authority, the Generalist must be comfortable developing and executing projects and spearheading tasks with limited oversight.
Accountabilities and Essential Functions :
Provide project management and support for the development and distribution of marketing and communications materials to advance and protect the agency's reputation, build awareness of its services and program priorities, and build visibility and strong support for the agency across key stakeholder audiences :Support the management and execution of marketing and advertising campaigns, marketing material development, and distribution.
Ensure that brand standards are used in communications developed internally and by external vendors and partners. Recommend and assist with the development and implementation of the agency's brand standards.Build awareness and increase use of agency programs and services, create support among key stakeholder audiences, and provide customers with accurate, useful, and timely information by developing, implementing, and analyzing social media plans, strategies, messaging and tactics.Develop content and coordinate production of internal and external communications, research and analyze distribution and effectiveness of marketing and communications materials, advertising and sponsorship programs and campaigns in partnership with internal and external subject matter experts.Provide project management and administrative support for the getDowntown program, as needed.Engage and cultivate relationships with community partners and riders to obtain press coverage, generate testimonials, and ensure that the agency is responsive to community criticisms and concerns :Assist in writing press releases, media advisories, and develop and manage a process for creating and maintaining media contact lists.
Assist in the creation and development of talking points for the agency's communications to specific target audiences.Monitor media and other external opportunities, and prepare supporting materials and information for interviews, presentations, and event participation.Maintain and grow community contact lists by implementing strategies designed to increase the agency's reach to community stakeholders through e-communications (e.g., newsletter signup, followers on social media sites, etc.).Respond to requests for agency participation in community events, attend events to disseminate agency information as appropriate, solicit customer feedback, and answer stakeholder questions.Coordinate and assemble marketing materials, customer information, and promotional materials for public input and other external events.Identify and promote AAATA's community engagement outreach efforts, as well as coordinate the involvement and organization of community-based transit-based advocates.Develop and maintain a calendar of events, as well as attend internal and external AAATA events and meetings, as needed.Assist with legislative monitoring and engagement, as needed.Ensure customers are provided with timely, easy to use, and accessible information by developing, designing, and recommending content that is distributed through social media outlets, websites, newsletters, emails, and other communications channels :Manage social media presence by maintaining a content calendar and posting timely and coordinated information about services, detours, promotions, and general agency information, as well as industry- and community-related news and events.
Develop and edit social media content as needed for various platforms.Respond on the agency's behalf to customer social media posts, emails, and phone calls.Maintain calendar, research and develop content for e-newsletters.Manage community distribution of Ride Guides, large scale system maps, brochures, flyers, etc.Ensure that department purchases are timely, accurate, and adhere to agency policies :Assist with the management of bus advertising contract by reviewing, approving, and tracking advertisement placement on vehicles.
Coordinate purchases between department personnel and vendors.Review and analyze purchases for discrepancies and adherence to budgets; recommend and process invoices for approval.Provide general administrative support and perform other duties as assigned :Manage and coordinate agency participation with community sponsorship requests.
Arrange meetings and document meeting outcomes.Assist with various administrative tasks, as needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, English, Journalism, or related field.Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in a public relations position or role in a similar business function.Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in social media management.Minimum of 3 or more years of experience with a combination of related disciplines including brand and community management, technical and creative marketing, customer service, public speaking, project management, content development, and email marketing.Online expertise with a proven technical background and aptitude for the internet and multiple digital communication tools and technologies, including web content editing.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.High level of understanding of social media strategies and tools.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and within strict timelines.Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.Ability to work and participate effectively within a team environment.Extensive brand and reputation management experience.Passion and ability to monitor and engage in appropriate multi-channel social media conversations, including during hours outside of the normal workday.Provide appropriate real-time responses to incoming services questions via multiple channels.Physical Demands : Physical Demands
