Weekend Managing Producer

GENERAL FUNCTION :

The Weekend Managing Producer is the primary driver of C-SPAN's weekend coverage – responsible for deciding and implementing on-air program schedules for C-SPAN's Saturday and Sunday lineups, ensuring that all program elements are prepared for air and guiding live coverage. This role helps set the editorial tone and execution for the weekend schedule, delivering compelling, politically balanced programming while managing a team of editorial staff. Must be a strong leader and active part of our management team.

Schedule : Thursday - Sunday .

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Lead the Weekend Lineup : Develops and / or reviews schedule of weekend and other daily programming to air on the C-SPAN networks consistent with C-SPAN's editorial and presentation guidelines.
• Drive Live Coverage : Identifies and produces the most relevant weekend events, live or taped, shaping how they are presented on air. Monitors news and media sources to inform programming decisions.
• Editorial Oversight : Reviews and approves scripts, graphics and program elements for clarity, accuracy and consistency with C-SPAN style.
• Team Leadership : Manages and mentors producers, associate producers and production assistants; provides feedback, performance reviews and motivates staff to deliver high-quality work.
• Bridge Editorial & Technical : Collaborates closely with Master Control to implement programming plans and maintain smooth on-air execution.
• Advance Innovation : Contributes ideas and projects that strengthen the weekend product and align with long-term programming goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
