Summary :
The Traveling Commodities Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of being our customers' competitive advantage by responding to customer orders efficiently and accurately. The Traveling Commodities Team Member works with a team at a mobile wire center to ensure the delivery, receipt and coordination of customer orders. To fill orders and receive inventory, this person will use a forklift to pick material from warehouse shelves, cuts wire to customer specifications, picks conduit, receives commodity items, and unloads trucks. This individual prepares the product for delivery to customers and / or other branch locations by palletizing, banding and labeling the product and works in conjunction with the Traveling Commodities Supervisor and other team members to ensure all customer orders are completed in an efficient manner while maintaining high levels of accuracy and safety. This person must have the flexibility to travel within the United States to be on assignment for months at a time. When not on assignment, this individual will work at the Central Distribution Center as a team member. This person exemplifies all safe work practices. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions :
- Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire in an efficient and accurate manner
- Receive and unload commodities from delivery trucks
- Accurately maintain commodities inventory and equipment
- Prepare product for shipment
- Ability to deliver product when necessary
- Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and customer
- Meet quality expectations and customer requirements
- Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
- Assist in maintaining distribution center cleanliness and order
- Cross-train in other departments as needed
- Support team members by participating in team lifts
- Participate in commodities team process improvements
- Provide coverage in areas of the distribution center in which staffing is low and work level is high
