Position SummaryThis internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the development of a robust data model that supports a key business domain within our organization. The intern will work closely with the Analytics and Data Engineering team to understand business requirements, explore existing data sources, and help design and implement scalable data pipelines and models.
The Mom's Meals Summer Internship Program is a paid project-based 12-week program beginning May 18, 2026, and ending August 7, 2026. Our project-based internship program provides participants with the training, coaching, and hands-on experience to be successful professionals in their chosen fields. Our internship assignments focus on practical, value added projects that help create a connection between what is learned in the classroom and what is required in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors.
This is an onsite position in our Ankeny, IA headquarters. Candidates should be local to the Des Moines / Ames, IA area since no relocation assistance or housing stipend is offered. Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to
Understand the business domain and its analytical needs
Identify and assess relevant data sources (internal and external)
Assist in designing a logical and physical data model to support reporting and analytics
Build and test data pipelines using modern data engineering tools and frameworks
Document the data model and pipeline architecture for future reference and scalability
Gain experience with data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, normalization)
Learn to use tools such as SQL, dbt, data bricks, and ADF
Develop skills in data wrangling, transformation, and pipeline orchestration
Understand how data engineering supports business decision-making
Required Skills and Experience
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or field
Minimum GPA of 2.75 () or higher
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Proficient in SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Outlook
Familiarity or past experience with programming or statistical languages (SQL and Python preferred)
Strong analytical thinking and eagerness to learn about business processes and data systems
Ability to multi-task and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
Strong attention to detail, must be able to provide reports with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment, including being a productive member of a project team
Proficient in data visualization and able to consider multiple approaches to finding a solution
Professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude
Ability to quickly learn and adapt; must be interested in continuous education to take advantage of emerging trends in new software / technology
