Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg days position requiring Illinois RN licensure, EPIC experience, and Level 1 trauma background.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Med / Surg hospital unit caring for complex surgical populations
  • Day shifts from 7 : 00AM to 7 : 30PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Provides post-operative care, including management of tracheostomies, wound vacs, and complex wound care
  • Care and education for patients with new ostomies
  • Collaborates with general surgical and OMFS residency services
  • Uses EPIC for electronic charting; prior experience required
  • Role involves maintaining accurate and timely documentation and assessment, and implementing and evaluating care plans
  • Care for post-operative and surgical patients, including wound management and new tracheostomy care
  • Expected to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide education to patients and families
  • Maximum of seven days of requested time off permitted per 13-week contract
  • Contingent workers cannot be on assignment for more than one year without a six-month break before returning
  • Standard hospital scrub attire required
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment

    • Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license, temporary license accepted
  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum one year of recent relevant Med / Surg nursing experience
  • Demonstrated Level 1 trauma experience required
  • Experience with EPIC EMR required
  • Associate degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
