Behavior Technician

This position is responsible for implementing and improvingthe environmental enhancement plan for all nonhuman primates by working closely with the veterinary and behavioral management teams.

On a typical day, the Behavior Technician will contribute to the Envigo team by :

• Regularly conducting behavioral assessments of newly arrived and colony animals.
• Assist with animal socializations into pairs or groups and complete related documentation.
• Assist with monitoring of newly formed pairs, social groups and breeding groups.
• Recognize abnormal or stereotypic behaviors and implement tailored enrichment plans provided by the behavior manager and veterinary team.
• Implement, track and document plans
• Implement shaping plans to prepare animals for research procedures (reduce fear, cooperative feeding, target training, etc.)
• Maintain documentation as needed
• Work closely with the veterinary and animal care staff to ensure proper animal care standards are maintained
• Propose new ideas, as needed, for socialization strategies and tailored enrichment plans
