ResponsibilitiesSCREENING OF APPLICANTS BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED
About the Position: We are looking for a full-time ( hours) Medical Records Specialist for our Health Information Management Department. Majority of the position will be chart assembly, faxing aftercare documentation, data entry, chart analysis, and fulfills release of information requests as appropriate. You will need to be highly detail orientated, have strong time management skills, and be able to keep up with a high volume of activity, and be able to interact well with physicians and other departments. Will need to be able to sit for long periods of time (2-4 hours at a time). Requires a considerable amount of bending, stooping and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry up to pounds of patients' records.
The core work schedule will be: Tuesday thru Saturday 7am - 3:pm or 8am-4pm

Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate strong competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Strong customer service, written/verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Computer literate - especially in Microsoft Word and Excel. The ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Requires ability to exercise independent judgement to accomplish goals and manage time efficiently as an independent worker. The ability to multi-task is an essential skill for this position. Must be able to work independently and fullfill release of information requests as appropriate.
Skills:
Requires strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and excellent customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, referral sources, etc. Possess strong critical thinking skills. Be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.Education: High school education or equivalent. Minimum of one-year in Health Information Services in a healthcare facility, behavioral health experience preferred; experience in the interpretation and application of chart completion guidelines; experience working 1:1 with physicians and other healthcare providers. Strong understanding of HIPAA.
