Associate Director - Private Equity
Zurich Alternative Asset Management (New York, NY) seeks an Associate Director Private Equity responsible for making decisions on Zurich's vital investment portfolios on an international level that will improve ZAAM's competitiveness and contribute to the expansion of Zurich Insurance Group's international business in the U.S. and worldwide. Specific duties include : source investment opportunities for PE program; support deal leader and lead / co-lead, where necessary, on the analysis of the investment opportunities; support deal leader on diligence topics formulation for external meeting discussions and in negotiation of documents; support the development of theses and risks of investment opportunity; actively participate in the drafting of investment materials to be presented to the investment committee; initiate, develop and maintain appropriate tools for portfolio monitoring, market intelligence, and related analysis; employ thesis-driven approach to identifying areas for potential investment consideration through research / thesis building; represent ZAAM PE in structured meetings; and support investment mandate set-ups, authoring documentation for review by senior Zurich executives, and outbound calling efforts. Position requires 50% travel, both domestically and internationally. Option to work remotely with a requirement to be in the NY office three times per week.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Financial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Associate Private Equity, Equity Portfolio Manager, Senior Equity Analyst, or similar investment research position. Must have 2 years of experience working in at least three of the following : private equity; institutional asset management; research or advisory firms; insurance companies; investment banking; management consulting; or alternative investments. Must also have 2 years of experience with each of the following : financial, accounting, and valuation analyses; three-statement financial modeling via Microsoft Excel; building LP fund cash flow modeling and using these LP fund cash flows to create public-market-equivalent analyses and private equity investment program sensitivities; leading or co-leading due diligence, value creation analyses, and reference calling of private equity fund managers or individual private equity transactions; presenting transactions to a formal investment committee and successfully receiving approval for at least 10 private equity transactions such as fund, co-investments, or secondaries; reviewing and negotiating key business terms and conditions related to private equity partnerships and side letters or shareholder agreements; data visualization experience using Microsoft PowerBI and creating custom data visualizations; working with private equity systems and tools, including Dynamo, Burgiss (Private I), Cambridge Associates Benchmark Calculator, Preqin, Capital IQ, Pitchbook, Bloomberg, and Crunchbase; and presenting investment reports or analyses in front of internal or external clients or at industry events. Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Option to work remotely with a requirement to be in the NY office three times per week.
