In this role you will provide expert level guidance to maintenance staff and handson maintenance support alongside a team of trades / maintenance staff (3). Through your work and leadership you will have the opportunity to help shape the longterm vision and strategy for the overall Planned Maintenance Program.

Your Future in this Role :

The core of this position is collaboration coordination leadership and handson tradesbased maintenance project support in alignment with our overall Department Vision of a county of healthy people living happy lives. To support this vision you will actively lead your team of three (3) other Planned Maintenance Technician 4s while also being handson when time schedule and availability permits. In this role you will manage the programs overall budget (including reporting) administrative coordination and ensure projects are working through proper and required legal / permitting / purchasing processes. You may also present project updates plans and new proposals at various committee / subcommittee meetings.

How to be Successful in the Role :

You will need to bring your knowledge and experience of program management in a construction / tradesbased / facility maintenance setting (preferably within government) as well as your handson experience in the skilled trades. Your strength as a leader and the ability to collaborate and communicate across teams while keeping projects on track and following all compliance and regulatory measures will guide your success in this role. Additionally having experience in managing and monitoring budgets will be critical.

PMP Supervisor will be responsible for leading the Planned Maintenance Team (as well as directly performing when needed) the following typical types of work (This is not an exhaustive list simply to illustrate typical projects) :

  • Facility retrofits
  • Small building and facility remodel (Concept to Completion).
  • Roofing gutter siding replacement (depending on size and scope of work).
  • Bollard gate bench bike rack and other asset installation (including concrete work)
  • Emergency maintenance repair support (When appropriate).
  • Coordinate and support asset maintenance in conjunction with Capital Project development.
  • ADA compliance projects (ramps handrails etc.).
  • Working through Bid process contractor vetting / coordination project management material / supply ordering.

Position Summary :

Core Daily Responsibilities :

  • Plan organize schedule oversee perform and supervise all aspects of the Planned Maintenance Program and its staff.
  • Develop the work plan and schedule resources to meet daily weekly and monthly operational needs.
  • Identify maintenance deficiencies manage and update the work order system and coordinate with other Park and County department supervisor / management.
  • Plan direct and perform work in the repair of parks grounds such as turf and landscaped areas irrigation systems courts athletic fields golf courses trails trailheads camp areas picnic areas waterfront areas and playground structures.
  • Determine materials supplies and cost estimates for projects. Order supplies and materials.
  • Coordinate procurement of contract services materials and lease equipment.
  • Assist supervisor in budget planning preparation and implementation.
  • Ensure all project assignments conform to standards and code requirements.

    Qualifications :

  • Additional education and / or experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may be substituted for the recruiting requirements.
  • Four or more years of maintenance / grounds experience related to one or more of the following areas : parks facilities trails or open space.
  • Supervisory and / or lead experience is required.
  • A valid drivers license is required or the ability to otherwise meet the travel requirements of the position.
  • Have or attain a Pesticide License within first year of employment.

  • Employees may be subject to 24hour on call availability.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.
