Summary
The Primary Care RN Manager oversees the message management operations within a primary care setting. The RN Manager plays a key part in improving patient access, promoting preventive care, and fostering a team-based, patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and performance coaching to RNs, LVNs, and support staff.
- Conduct regular team meetings and ensure open, effective communication across the department.
- Promote a positive, collaborative work culture aligned with organizational values.
Clinical Operations Management
Oversee daily message management workflows and staff assignment to ensure efficient operations.Coordinate with providers to support clinical needs, appointment scheduling, and patient access goals.Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, standing orders, telephone triage standards, and care coordination processes.Quality, Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with state nursing practice standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA).Review quality metrics such as immunization rates, screenings, and care gaps, and drive improvement strategies.Patient Care & Experience
Champion patient-centered care and work to enhance overall patient experience.Address patient concerns and coordinate service recovery efforts when needed.Support care navigation, referrals, and patient education to promote continuity of care.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet the clinical needs of diverse patient populations.Administrative & Financial Management
Assist in budget planning, productivity monitoring, and resource allocation.Manage staffing levels to match patient volume, including oversight of schedules and timekeeping.Support implementation of new workflows, technologies, or process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.Generate and review reports related to clinic operations, quality measures, and patient satisfaction.Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Experience
Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in primary care, ambulatory care, or outpatient settings.Prior leadership experience as a charge nurse, lead RN, or supervisor highly preferred.Experience with care coordination, population health, and chronic disease management is a plus.
