Job descriptionPatient Demographics : Adults (hematology / oncology population) Patient Volume / Census : Full daily schedule (8 hours patient-facing per day) Admissions : Potential inpatient consults if applicable Rounding : Limited, primarily outpatient-focused Phone Consults : Yes Case Mix : General oncology and benign hematology; GI / GU oncology focus preferred but not required Procedures : Bone marrow biopsies in-office APP Duties : Follow-up visits, chemotherapy education, emergent infusion center support Specialty Backup Available : Oncology group support Support Staff Available : Infusion center staff, RNs, MAs Reason for Coverage : Provider on FMLA leave Hospital Privileges Required : Yes (if inpatient coverage included) Temporary Privileges Available : Potential expedited credentialing Credentialing Timeline : Typically 90 days; expedited requests possible with CT license Compliance Rate (APP) : Fixed (Daily OT after 12 hours; Weekly OT after 168 hours) Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered (details TBD) REQUIRED PROCEDURES Bone marrow biopsies (in-office) Outpatient hematology / oncology procedures as appropriate Licenses : Active Connecticut license required Board : Board Certified / Board Eligible in Hematology / Oncology (for physicians) DEA : Required Certifications : None specified Experience : 1+ year; oncology / hematology experience preferred Other Qualifications : Ability to manage oncology patients independently; APPs experienced in oncology encouraged Manage outpatient oncology and hematology patient base Provide chemotherapy education and support infusion center staff Perform bone marrow biopsies in-office Cover inpatient consults as needed (if within provider scope) Take on-call responsibilities (physicians only, every 3rd weekend and 1 weekday per week) Collaborate with oncology team, APPs, and support staff to ensure continuity of care Adjust your work schedule to accommodate personal commitments, hobbies, or pursuits outside of medicine, promoting a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.
