Property and Casualty Production Underwriter

This is a remote / work-from-home (WFH) production underwriting role that includes travel to key agency relationships within the assigned territory. Territory : Texas. This individual should be based within the territory; Central Inland is most ideal. Qualified candidates must have commercial insurance underwriting experience (with authority) and a profitability & production orientated lens along with agency relationship management.
Strong preference for commercial middle market expertise. Construction-specific insurance industry experience is ideal. Existing relationships with national firms is highly desirable. This role also requires a strong technical skillset with the ability to successfully work across multiple underwriting platforms and thrive through change.

As a Construction Services Territory Manager, you'll market, manage and underwrite commercial line business through direct contact with select agencies or brokers. We'll count on you to drive profit and premium to meet financial goals and objectives through developing, negotiating and executing business plans. Collaboration with all internal business partners to support and increase the overall Nationwide presence will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities :
Reporting Relationships : Reports to Manager or Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences :
Education : Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
License / Certification / Designation : Relevant professional designation such as CPCU or CIC is preferred.
Experience : Seven years of progressively more responsible underwriting and sales experience in commercial line business preferred. Expertise in markets consistent with our underwriting appetite and product portfolio preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Thorough working knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing and coverage for middle market business. Knowledge of company sales and underwriting standards and practices company commercial products and programs. Knowledge of state statutes and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and sales skills. Ability to build and maintain cooperative and mutually rewarding internal and external partnerships. Must have the ability to perform duties with independent judgment with underwriting authority and company underwriting standards. Demonstrated decision-making ability required in day-to-day operations where there may be unclear or competing priorities, including evaluating and recommending solutions to customer service, work processing, underwriting selection and rating and compliance. Strong drive for results.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
