The Director of Outpatient Services provides leadership and oversight for Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs), ensuring the delivery of high-quality, recovery-oriented behavioral health care. This role manages day-to-day operations, clinical and administrative staff, program compliance, quality improvement, and external partnerships across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all PHP operations across designated locations.
- Recruit, supervise, and support clinical and administrative staff, including graduate interns.
- Oversee interdisciplinary care teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered treatment.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements (DMH, Joint Commission, CMS, managed care).
- Monitor billing practices and ensure fiscal accountability.
- Develop and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, schools, and community agencies.
- Drive program growth and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in human services (MSW, MA, MS, PhD, EdD, or equivalent).Independent Massachusetts clinical licensure (LICSW preferred; LMHC acceptable).Minimum 5 years of progressive behavioral health leadership experience, with at least 3 years in PHP / IOP program management.Strong knowledge of regulatory and payer requirements.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Commitment to trauma-informed, patient-centered care.Preferred
Experience in co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment.Familiarity with EHR systems and clinical documentation.Background in program development and expansion.
