Description :

The department specializes in Med / Tele Acute, Observation, and Swingbed care.

The unit consists of 19 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 3-6.

Common diagnoses include pneumonia, rehabilitation cases, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleeds.

Experience in IV starts, telemetry, and insertion of NG and Foley catheters is essential.

The role does not require clinical involvement or titration of drips.

There is no assigned charge nurse on each shift.

A CNA is assigned per shift to assist with personal care, vitals, and weights.

RNs are expected to set up and be competent with respiratory equipment including BiPap, Cpap, and high-flow oxygen.

RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips using Mindray monitors.

Self-scheduling is possible and team scheduling is utilized.

Weekend and holiday requirements include working every other weekend and holiday.

There is no call or standby requirement associated with this position.

Floating will be required to other units as needed.

RNs on this unit may also participate in the code team.
