Job description

Reports to : Director of Nutrition

STATUS : Exempt

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE : The SFI Feed Administrator is responsible for providing operational and analytical support for the companys nutrition programs. The role ensures formulation and pricing are executed accurately efficiently and in alignment with the feed program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Feed Program Execution

  • Maintain and update formulation databases product codes and ingredient databases across all mills and internal programs.
  • Collaborate with Director of Nutrition to implement SFI feeding programs for farrow-to-finish production.
  • Coordinate the rollout of ration updates and ingredient changes according to established timelines.
  • Communicate formula changes to mills receive confirmation and review changes.

Ingredient Price Monitoring and Reporting

  • Receive and / or enter weekly ingredient bid pricing from all mills and follow up with vendors on any missing pricing.
  • Review pricing data for outliers and follow up.
  • Maintain ingredient pricing database for company systems and formulation program.
  • Track monitor and report feed and ingredient pricing trends.
  • Feed Invoice Data Reporting

  • Utilize feed invoice data to monitor and reconcile manufacturing accuracy and ingredient pricing discrepancies.
  • Work across accounting and feed ordering team to validate discrepancies.

  • Communicate discrepancies with Feed and Milling Supervisor.
  • Maintain reports that summarize feed usage ingredient pricing mill performance and pricing or quantity variance.
  • Other Reporting and Feed Support Functions

  • Oversee ingredient purchasing logistics and inventory for select products.
  • Support quality investigations by analyzing pertinent feed invoice data.
  • Compile quarterly vendor ingredient usage reports and reconcile with internal data.
  • Compile and summarize specialty ingredient bids.
  • Compile monthly / quarterly feed or ingredient usage / pricing reports. May include data validation for accuracy.
  • Summarize and communicate various feed quality data.
  • May assist with sample submission for feed quality analysis.
  • Systems and Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with feed IT and accounting teams to improve feed system data flows and reporting accuracy and efficiency.

  • Support automation of feed data reporting and visualization.
  • Miscellaneous :

  • Promote Schwartz Farms core values of integrity respect excellence and adaptability.
  • Ensure privacy policies and procedures established by SFI regarding protected health information are implemented and maintained.
  • Advocate and engage in SFIs animal welfare policy including promoting animal well-being remedying circumstances which impede animal care and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelors degree in agriculture or business-related major
  • Minimum of three years experience in feed- or accounting-related positions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data summarization analysis or visualization.
  • Fundamental understanding of hog production.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and task-driven.
  • Dependable self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills ability to function within a team and across departments.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • The preceding qualifications are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience could provide the necessary knowledge skills and abilities to perform this job.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Highly experienced in data analysis and visualization such as Excel or PowerBI to summarize large amounts of data proficiently.
  • Experience in feed or ingredient purchasing.
  • Familiarization with swine rations and feeding programs.
