Job description

The Adjunct English Professor is a part-time position. All adjunct positions are hired on an as-needed basis. A qualified applicant will have a master's degree in English and, preferably a doctor degree in the field of English. Candidates who can and are willing to review and edit dissertation manuscripts will be highly sought.

Qualifications :

  • Possesses an earned master's or higher degree in English; doctoral degree in English preferred.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with university policy and course objectives
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods
  • Must attend Faculty meetings when scheduled.

    • Updates syllabi and lesson plans accordingly.

  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Agrees to hold office hours and make themselves for students when necessary.

    • Returns all calls within 24 hours.

    Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience within University of the Potomac.

  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines and expectations.

    • Courses are for 8 weeks. The adjunct pay range is $1500 - $2000 per course. Dissertation manuscript review and editing is a separate pay.
