We are seeking a hands-on and technically driven Manufacturing Engineer II with 3–5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, including welding, metal fabrication, stamping, plating, and roll forming. This role is responsible for process development, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor. Candidates should be highly mechanical, confident working in fast-paced environments, and capable of leading cross-functional collaboration between engineering, production, and maintenance teams. This position also includes design support through SolidWorks, development of work instructions, and active involvement in launching new tooling or parts. Mechanical engineering degree required. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and optimize stamping, roll forming, plating, and welding processes
- Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement CAPA to improve uptime, safety, and quality
- Develop and modify tooling, fixtures, and workstation layouts using SolidWorks
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams on equipment reliability and upgrades
- Conduct time studies and analyze production metrics to eliminate inefficiencies
- Develop and maintain standard work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation
- Participate in the launch of new products, tools, or materials
- Provide technical support for quality audits, PPAPs, and customer reviews
- Interpret GD&T blueprints, evaluate inspection criteria, and support part conformity
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the automotive sectorHands-on experience with welding processes and fabricated metal componentsProficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD softwareExperience in troubleshooting equipment and supporting mechanical maintenance effortsWorking knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and process documentationDemonstrated success in leading root cause analysis and process improvementsRequired Skills
Background with automotive parts manufacturing (door frames, handles, interior / exterior trim)Experience with PLC troubleshooting, welding HMIs, and automation controlsFamiliarity with Toyota Production System (TPS) or other lean frameworksSix Sigma Certification (Green Belt or higher preferred)Understanding of automotive quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949)Preferred Skills
