Job Summary
The Social Worker will provide direct case management, counseling, and advocacy services to youth participating in KBECs ILP program. Working under the guidelines set forth by the DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) for contracted independent living programs, the Social Worker will develop individualized service plans, coordinate access to community resources, and support youth in their transition to independent living. This role is essential to maintaining the mandated staffing ratioemploying at least one social worker for every twenty residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of youth needs and strengths.
Provide counseling and crisis intervention services tailored to the unique challenges facing youth transitioning from foster care.
Adhere to all DC CFSA guidelines and requirements, including maintaining the necessary social work staffing ratio within the ILP.
Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including educators, healthcare providers, and community-based agencies, to support a holistic approach to youth services.
Engage in continuous professional development and training to stay current with best practices in social work, youth empowerment, and independent living programming.
Qualifications
A masters degree in social work or a related field from an accredited college or university.
In accordance with ILP standards, the program shall employ at least one (1) social worker for every twenty (20) residents, ensuring manageable caseloads and personalized support for each client.
Strong case management, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to establish rapport with youth, families, and community partners.
Eligibility for social work licensure in Washington, DC (or current licensure preferred).
