The global People team is a collaborative team that seeks out the diverse opinions skills and strengths of our colleagues around the world with respect and empathy when delivering work for Dow Jones and its brands. The People Business Partner team do this by working together for the greater good sharing our expertise experience and ideas to support each other both within our team and when engaging our Centers of Excellence. We are client-centric strategic partners to the business and deliver by aligning to Dow Jones commercial goals and driving organizational performance. Our global People team is predominantly located in New York London Barcelona Hong Kong and Singapore. ABOUT THE ROLE

Dow Jones is looking for a Director People Business Partner for our global Energy business based in New York City. This is a rare opportunity to shape the people strategy for a critical growth area of our business while being part of a global collaborative People team. You will have a platform to influence senior leadership and make a measurable impact on our people and business outcomes.

In this role you will work alongside our EVP & General Manager of Dow Jones Energy and her leadership team to drive impact across the organization. With a proven track record of building strong relationships with senior leaders youll combine commercial acumen with high emotional intelligence to influence challenge convention and embed positive change. Youll think critically to solve problems and live our values of collaboration trust impact and excellence in everything you do.

You will work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 or 4 days each week.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You can align around clear goals and objectives which helps connect us to the goals of the business and be a strategic partner to our stakeholders.

You will develop an intimate understanding of the businesses you support and provide strategic partnership to senior leaders globally in areas such as : organizational transformation and change management employee engagement talent and succession planning career development and workforce insights. You are resourceful adept at assembling the right teams to build and launch new tools optimize the way we work and drive change.

You have worked in global organizations and can support leaders who report into different countries and different timezones. Youre able to help bridge cultural differences and advocate for employees in a global matrixed environment.

You thrive in ambiguity comfortably managing issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.

You are comfortable communicating openly and transparently assuming good intent when working with our business our team and our partners. With courage you can speak up and be honest even when its hard.

You will stay connected with all Global PBPs for your client groups ensuring all are kept aware of any and all client group activities or developments.

You take initiative and are unafraid to tackle any challenge yet know when to escalate if needed. You learn from any mistakes and strive to achieve great things.

You deliver on what you promise your clients and your colleagues thoughtfully and reliably. Business leaders know they can rely on you to achieve their goals and they experience excellent partnership from you. You are great at building strong relationships.

WHAT YOU HAVE

10 years of progressively responsible human resources experience; including 3 years in senior HR business partner or other senior client facing HR roles

Experience working with high performing commercial groups such as sales and incentive-driven employees

A proven track record of contributing to the creation and / or expansion of best practices

Ability to position self as credible (garners respect acts with integrity keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view challenges assumptions takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships delivers results)

Ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy

Experience with employee relations processes including workplace investigations and the performance management process

Experience working in a global HR team preferably having some knowledge of country-specific employment / labor laws outside of the US

Effective collaboration coaching and counseling skills

Ability to use data and analytics to develop insights and actions

Initial adoption of AI tools into your ways of working

Ability to to work under pressure and be a proactive team player

Ability to manage and resolve sensitive employee issues

Willingness to work on-site in our midtown Manhattan office up to 4 days every week

Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract engage and motivate talented people to do their best work. Similarly to salary for bonus eligible roles targets are set based on a variety of factors including competitive market practice.
