The Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno, is looking for a tenure-track assistant professor to join us starting July 1, 2025. We are seeking candidates with expertise in any area of cellular and molecular neuroscience. We particularly encourage applicants who use innovative molecular and cell biological and / or omics approaches in model organisms or organoid models. Competitive startup funds will be provided.
The Department of Biology has more than 900 biology majors, 350 neuroscience majors, around 80 graduate students, 26 tenure ladder faculty, and 10 teaching professors. Extramural awards average ~ $7 million per year. The department has access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a Cell and Molecular Imaging Core, Animal research facilities, and access to university cores such as Genomics, Proteomics, and Bioinformatics.
Our faculty are expected to develop nationally recognized, extramurally funded research programs, mentor PhD students, and participate in undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to recruit graduate students from multiple university-wide graduate programs, including the Integrative Neuroscience PhD and the Molecular Bioscience PhD programs.
