Lead Back End Software Engineer

As a Lead Back End Software Engineer, you will have a significant role in transforming technology at Capital One.

What You'll Do :

Lead a diverse set of technology projects and guide a team of developers experienced in distributed microservices and full stack systems to create solutions that meet regulatory requirements.

Stay updated with the latest tech trends, experiment with new technologies, engage with internal and external tech communities, mentor fellow engineers, and occasionally participate in coding or code reviews.

Work collaboratively with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys.

Utilize a variety of programming languages including Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, as well as Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and AWS services.

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree

A minimum of 4 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not count).

At least 1 year of cloud computing experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications :

Master's Degree

7+ years of experience in at least one of the following : Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.

2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services.

4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.

1+ years of experience in people management.

2+ years of experience in Agile methodologies.

Location : McLean, VA. Salary range : $193,400 - $220,700 for the Lead Software Engineer role.
